David Franklin is a psychotherapist and a school counselor who has been specializing in teen issues for the past 15 years. Using his own youth experiences, David recounts how his life changed forever when a group of students brutally attacked him in his New Jersey school. Thoughts and questions desperately raced through his adolescent mind: I am so angry! Do I get revenge? I’m scared.
In the days and months following this event, David made some very tough decisions, which impacted his life and self-image in both positive and negative ways. David’s gripping story resonates with experiences and emotions that many of today’s youth face.
David earned a Bachelors degree from Penn State University and a Masters degree in Counseling from the California State University, Hayward. In addition to having a PPS Counseling Credential, he is a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) in California.
In his presentations, David combines his experience as a school counselor in a diverse inner city school with his expertise as a songwriter. He challenges adolescents to make healthy choices as they maneuver through adolescence, sharing aspects of his own story to illustrate how when faced with difficult decisions, it is still possible to make good choices.
In addition to his work as a Counselor/Therapist, he has written articles for newspapers, has spoken to various schools and community organizations and has trained counselors and therapists.
