Dr. Marcelo F. Vazquez is currently Associate Dean of Students at the land-grant university for the State of Nevada; the University of Nevada, Reno.
Currently overseeing such areas as Student Persistence Research, Nevada Fraternity & Sorority Life Services, Student Conduct, the Tutoring Center and New Student Initiatives for 1st and 2nd year student programming, Dr. Vazquez’s role as the Associate Dean of Students is to strengthen inclusivity, persistence and graduation efforts for the undergraduates of The University of Nevada.
Marcelo has spent 18 years in four-year postsecondary institutions such as California State University – Northridge, the University of California – Los Angeles, and California State University – Los Angeles. Marcelo is a frequent speaker on college preparation and undergraduate persistence and has presented for College Board, Western Regional Careers in Student Affairs Conference, NACAC, NASPA and NCCEP.
His NASPA involvement currently includes being the Public Policy Chair for the Latino Knowledge Community. Marcelo received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from California State University – Northridge, Master of Arts Degree from Prescott College, and Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California (USC).
